Faint Plateau Lights, Illuminating the Path to Knowledge

On the highlands of Nagarze County, Shannan City, Tibet, the curl of cooking smoke in Linxi Village of Dalong Town mingles harmoniously with the sound of children reading aloud. Here lies a school that nurtures the dreams of children from pastoral border communities — Nagarze Dalong Linxi Primary School.Founded in 1949, the school has always upheld the philosophy of people-oriented education and morality-based governance. In the frigid high-altitude environment with an average elevation of over 4,500 meters, it has built a steady bridge to the world of knowledge for generations of children. The sky here is exceptionally clear, and the children’s eyes sparkle with pure brightness. Bundled in slightly bulky clothes, they listen attentively to every lesson in simple classrooms. Cherishing every pencil and textbook, they tuck their curiosity about the world beyond the mountains into neat, well-kept notebooks.Despite the school’s efforts to create a sound learning environment, the bitter cold of the high altitude and the relative scarcity of teaching resources quietly constrain the boundaries of the children’s growth. Warm clothing to fend off the winter chill, extracurricular books to broaden their horizons, and art supplies to support their all-around development are all pressing needs waiting to be addressed.Philanthropic support has never been absent from this plateau. Caring enterprises and associations donated 1,250 sets of school bags to the school. When the brand-new bags were handed to the children, their faces — flushed with the distinctive "plateau red" — broke into the brightest smiles. With childish voices, they promised to repay society’s care with outstanding academic performance. This ripple of warmth reinforces our firm belief: every small act of kindness can light the path forward for plateau students.
